How to add your signature to a document

The PNG works anywhere you can insert an image. These are the quickest routes in the apps people use most.

Add a signature to a PDF

Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader and choose Fill & Sign → Sign → Add signature → Image, then select your PNG. Mac Preview doesn't import signature image files; its Markup → Sign tool captures a signature from the trackpad, camera or iPhone instead.

Add a signature in Word

Click where the signature goes, then Insert → Pictures → This Device and choose the PNG. Set Wrap Text to In Front of Text so you can drag it onto the signature line.

Add a signature in Google Docs

Use Insert → Image → Upload from computer. Because the PNG is transparent, it sits cleanly over a line or table cell. Resize from a corner handle to keep the proportions.

Add a signature image to Gmail

In Gmail, open Settings → See all settings and find the Signature section. Click the Insert image icon in the signature editor, add your PNG by uploading it, choosing it from Google Drive or pasting a web address, then click Save Changes. The image counts toward Gmail's signature size limit, so keep it small.

Signature ideas for your name

Start with your first initial

Most signatures keep the first letter large and readable, then let the rest of the name flow. Try typing your initial plus last name, such as “A. Morgan”.

Pick legible or fast — not both

Formal documents favour a readable style like Allura or Great Vibes. A quick scrawl like Herr Von Muellerhoff looks natural but is harder to read.

Use a slight forward slant

A slant of 5–10° reads as confident and natural. Keep the same slant every time you sign.

Practise the one you choose

A signature works best when you can reproduce it by hand. Download a style you like and copy it on paper a few times.

Signature generator FAQ

Is this signature generator free? +

Yes. Typing, drawing, and downloading PNG signatures are free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Does the PNG have a transparent background? +

Yes. Every download is a transparent PNG trimmed to the signature, so it sits cleanly on a document, form or signature line.

Can I use this signature to sign documents legally? +

A signature image may be used as part of an electronic signing process. Whether it is legally effective depends on applicable law, intent, consent, and document requirements. This tool does not verify identity or provide an audit trail.

Do you store my signature? +

No. Your typed name and signature drawing stay in your browser; the images are created on your device and nothing is uploaded.

Which looks more real, typed or drawn? +

A drawn signature is your own handwriting, so it looks most authentic. Typed styles are neater and consistent; handwriting-style fonts such as Homemade Apple or Cedarville Cursive look closest to a pen.

Are the signature fonts free for commercial use? +

All 20 styles are Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License, so you can use the PNGs in personal and commercial documents.
